Gift Shell

Gift Shell

This shell kind of has a story to it. For the last 50 or so years, my wife’s family (on her mother’s side) has used this conch shell as a joke gift. It’s been passed back and forth many times. The real gift is hidden in the shell, or the shell is included as a part of the gift. Big laffs. Right now the shell is in my wife’s possession, but who knows how long that will last?

Red Laces, Newbury Street

I'm working on two paintings at the moment:

  • The left image ("Red Laces," oil on canvas, 11 x 14") is getting close to done.
  • The image in the right ("Newbury Street", oil on panel, 20 x 20"), is just in the underpainting stage. Why is it called "Newbury Street?" Because this is a leather jacket I bought from a consignment shop on Newbury Street when my wife and I were first dating. I've worn it for 8 years, although it's now getting a bit ratty. I've spent a lot of time in that jacket (and in those sneakers, come to think of it).
